Scott Treloar
Founder, Noviscient

Scott is founder of Noviscient, a Singapore-based systematic trading company. Previously he was Chief Risk Officer for Vulpes Investment Management, an alternative investment management firm. Scott has 20 years of financial markets experience. He spent four years with Vulpes in 2012 after 8 years with Deutsche Bank in Singapore, where he was heading a quantitative team covering modelling and valuation risk for the Bank’s Asian trading businesses. Prior to this he worked in venture capital and private equity investing, which included 5 years with Macquarie Bank in Sydney.

Scott has a BEng from the University of Melbourne, an MBA from the Melbourne Business School, a Master of Quantitative Finance from the University of Technology, Sydney and he is completing a PhD in Finance with EDHEC.

Abstract

In the first part of his talk, Scott is going to share with the audience his personal career path from an engineer to a banker, before becoming a hedge fund manager. He will provide his personal insights into the hedge fund industry as well as career advice to the students. In the second half, Scott will cover the firm’s current systematic trading fund initiative, offering students an insider perspective. The talk will also shed light potential internship opportunities in his team.
