Interview Skills Workshop

Introduction

This workshop equips students with the skills to perform well at job interviews. We will focus on jobs in banking and finance industry. It prepares students for frequently asked interview questions. There will two practice sessions and a live demonstration of an interview. They will also learn how to prepare themselves ahead of the interview.

Objectives

  • To understand the skills and personal attributes interviewers look for
  • To know how to answer frequently asked questions
  • To provide opportunities for students to practise
  • To know the different financial institutions and divisions in banking & finance
  • To create a good first impression and understand non-verbal communications

Instructor Bio

Eric is founder of Institute of Life (www.iol.life/events) whose mission is to help young professionals to be productive at work and successful in life. A guest lecturer teaching MSc in Finance program at Renmin University in Beijing, Eric has also taught at Peking University and Tsinghua. With 2 million followers on Linkedin, Eric writes regularly about career and life skills in both English and Chinese. He speaks regularly at CFA events on career development.

Previously, Eric was a Managing Director at UBS Investment Bank Asia where he ran the risk and financing solutions business based out of Hong Kong. Before joining UBS, Eric was with Citi Global Markets for 8 years heading up its Structured Solutions business based out of Singapore, Shanghai and Hong Kong. From 1997 to 2001, he was a market risk manager with Standard Chartered Bank. This year, efinancialcareers featured Eric's successful 22-year banking career and described him as a star banker helping budding bankers with their career.
