Overview

This course provides students with tools for communicating in the workplace, in particular, banking and finance industry, as well as ways to apply those skills. It covers personal branding, online and offline networking, presentation and selling skills. Students will learn how to communicate to win with internal and external clients. They will also learn valuable time management techniques and ways to manage work life in a fast-paced environment.

Speaker Bio

Eric Sim is former Managing Director of UBS AG Investment Bank Asia (2011-2017) where he ran the risk and financing solutions business and covered UBS key financial institutions and corporate clients across Asia. Before joining UBS, Eric was with Citi for 8 years heading up its Structured Solutions business based out of Singapore, Shanghai and Hong Kong. From 1997 to 2001, he was a market risk manager with Standard Chartered Bank Singapore, London and Hong Kong.

Eric is currently a guest lecturer at Queen's University (Canada)/Renmin University joint MSc in Finance program where he teaches Communications & Finance (MFIN835). He had also taught Applications of Derivatives at Peking University and Nanyang Business School. Last year, he founded Institute of Life (www.iol.life) which mission is to help young professionals be productive at work and successful in life. As a Linkedin column writer, he writes regularly about the life skills required in today's work place for his one million followers. In Mar 2017, efinancialcareers featured his successful 22-year banking career.
