NUS RMI Certificate in Data Analytics for Banking Professionals (Postponed)

Program Overview

This course is designed for banking professionals, who are not working in the data science domain, but need to apply data analytics to understand business performance and solve business problems. It will cover prevailing data analytics and modelling techniques such as data storytelling, diagnostic analytics and predictive analytics. In particular, Banking & Financial Sector case studies will be discussed in class.

Upon completion, the participants will be able to apply data analytics to answer questions such as “what is happening’’, “why does it happen?” and “what is going to happen”. Accordingly, they can obtain business insights from data and create value for their customers.

The participants will also learn how to use data analytics tools such as Tableau, R and/or Orange.

Who Should Attend

Banking professionals who are not data scientists by training but require data analytics to understand and solve business problems.

Prerequisite

University level statistics, good experience with excel

Sample Agenda

Data Story Telling

  • Use relevant data to create a dashboard and tell a data story
  • Software: Tableau

Predictive Modelling

  • Apply Supervised Learning techniques such as regression and classification models to make predications for business performance and customer churn
  • Software: R and/or Orange

Diagnostic Modelling

  • Apply Unsupervised Learning techniques such as clustering and association models to discover insights from the data and solve business problems such as customer segmentation and product recommendation
  • Software: R and/or Orange

Attendees are required to bring their own laptops for hands-on practices and simulations

Assessment

Group mini project(s) or individual hands-on exercises will be conducted and assessed at the end of each of three topics.

S$3,300 (subject to 7% GST).

Each participant who successfully completes the workshop will receive NUS RMI Certificate (with minimum 75% attendance).

This programme is approved for listing on the Financial Training Scheme (FTS) Programme Directory and is eligible for FTS claims subject to all eligibility criteria being met. Please note that in no way does this represent an endorsement of the quality of the training provider and programme. Participants are advised to assess the suitability of the programme and its relevance to participants' business activities or job roles. The FTS is available to eligible entities, at a 90% funding level (grant cap of S$2,000) of programme fees subject to all eligibility criteria being met. All Singaporeans aged 25 and above can use their SkillsFuture Credit from the government to pay for a wide range of approved skills-related courses.
