NUS RMI Certificate in Data Analytics for Banking Professionals (postponed)
Program Overview
This course is designed for banking professionals, who are not working in the data science domain, but need to apply data analytics to understand business performance and solve business problems. It will cover prevailing data analytics and modelling techniques such as data storytelling, diagnostic analytics and predictive analytics. In particular, Banking & Financial Sector case studies will be discussed in class.
Upon completion, the participants will be able to apply data analytics to answer questions such as “what is happening’’, “why does it happen?” and “what is going to happen”. Accordingly, they can obtain business insights from data and create value for their customers.
The participants will also learn how to use data analytics tools such as Tableau, R and/or Orange.
Who Should Attend
Banking professionals who are not data scientists by training but require data analytics to understand and solve business problems.
Prerequisite
University level statistics, good experience with excel
Sample Agenda
Data Story Telling
- Use relevant data to create a dashboard and tell a data story
- Software: Tableau
Predictive Modelling
- Apply Supervised Learning techniques such as regression and classification models to make predications for business performance and customer churn
- Software: R and/or Orange
Diagnostic Modelling
- Apply Unsupervised Learning techniques such as clustering and association models to discover insights from the data and solve business problems such as customer segmentation and product recommendation
- Software: R and/or Orange
Attendees are required to bring their own laptops for hands-on practices and simulations
Assessment
Group mini project(s) or individual hands-on exercises will be conducted and assessed at the end of each of three topics.
