Training Programs Updates

In 2024, RMI organized several training programs, including certification programs and customized programs. From January 2024 to May 2024 RMI welcomed its first annual cohort for its Financial Risk Manager (FRM®) Certification Training Program – Part I & II. This program helps prepare professionals from the financial industry for the rigorous examinations to obtain the FRM® certification. RMI has successfully conducted this Program bi-annually since 2013 and prepared over 430 participants for the examination that takes place twice a year in May and November. The certification is globally recognized and administered by the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP).

RMI also conducted three runs of the Sustainability and Climate Risk Certification (SCR®) Training Program (Synchronous e-learning) in February, May and September 2024. The Risk Management Institute (RMI)’s Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR®) exam preparation course is designed to align with Global Association of Risk Professionals' (GARP) SCR certification objectives and examination structure. There are 8 chapters in the latest (2023) SCR certificate covering aspects of sustainability and climate risk management. This RMI training program is composed of 7 sessions of 3 hours each. There will be a quiz at the end of the course which mirrors the format, coverage and standards of the actual SCR exam syllabus.

RMI also conducted a cohort of its specialized certification program, the NUS RMI-ACTS Workshop in Foreign Exchange & Liquidity Risks Management in APAC. This course presents an outline of the daily life in the Corporate Treasurer, what are the typical roles and responsibilities. The course also covers some typical workflow and operational activities in our daily work. i.e FX exposures, cashflow forecasts and liquidity reports are one of the main reports that Treasurers look at and monitor.

In August 2024, RMI conducted a specialized certification program on Risk Management Strategy - Navigating Risk in Volatile Times. This two-day workshop on Risk Management for SMEs aims to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills particularly in sustainability and climate risk, that implement a robust risk management program tailored to the unique needs of SMEs.

In addition to its usual certification programs, RMI also conducted a few customized program for local and overseas clients. The first one was a Certification Program for ZheJiang Science and Technology University. This overseas immersion program is a newly signed collaborative project between RMI and Zhejiang Science and Technology University for their undergraduate students. The course was conducted from 15 to 18 January 2024. The curriculum focuses on data analytics and AI. RMI also conducted a Customized Program for China Zheshang Bank, a first-time collaboration for the training of the bank's senior executives. The program was conducted from 1 to 5 April 2024 and featured topics such as, digital banking, fintech, wealth management, leadership, and data science. 

Continuing our collaboration with the Indian Fore School of Management for a sixth year running RMI conducted an overseas module for their finance MBA students. The school sent two parallel classes in the week of 22-26 April 2024 for two programs – one in big data analytics and the other in HRM. In September 2024, RMI conducted a customized program for China Development Bank focused on digital finance, innovation and risk management. RMI also conducted two cohorts of customized program for China Export Credit Insurance Company which were six day long programs on the theme of financial innovation. In October 2024, RMI also conducted two back to back customized programs for the Agricultural Bank of China with lectures focused on risk management, microlending, and sustainability. Finally, RMI continued to provide customized programs to our oldest client for Bank of China (BoC). This year BoC invited RMI to conduct two training workshops organized by BoC Singapore Branch. The first workshop featured the topics in payment and digitalization while the second one on operation and innovation.

Lastly, RMI continued to offer the new course on Financial Literacy and Numeracy. This undergraduate course introduces the language of finance and accounting, and is intended to help the students gain a broad knowledge of finance used in the real world, and think in the language of finance. The topics include understanding basic terms used in finance and accounting; operation of financial markets and the instruments traded in them; classification, measurement, and management of the financial risks; risks and returns in investment; introduction to financial data analytics and fintech. Students will gain a broad understanding of the real-world financial markets, risks, and investments, as well as learn to think in basic financial terms.
