RMI Co-organizes a Joint Forum in Hong Kong Discussing the OBOR Initiative

On 8 May 2017, RMI co-organized a joint Forum in Hong Kong titled “The One Belt One Road (OBOR) Initiative: Our Benefits Our Risks”, with the GOSS Institute of Research Management Limited, College of Business at City University of Hong Kong and Eurasian System Science Research Association. The Forum took a focused look at financial investment under the OBOR Initiative and discussed topics such as the legal, investment, and other potential risks from a cultural and religious perspective as well as policies under the OBOR Initiative.

There were five keynote speeches and two panel discussions. The keynote speakers were Prof. Ningning Xu of China-ASEAN Business Council, Mr. Shuang Chen of China Everbright Limited, Mr. Anthony Leung of Nan Fung Group, Prof. Shusong Ba of HKEX, and Prof. Jianbo Gao of Guangxi University. The keynote speakers gave their views on topics such as ASEAN and the OBOR Initiative, the Chinese Enterprise going global and the Hong Kong capital market under the OBOR Initiative, the role of Hong Kong under the OBOR Initiative based on its legal environment, and promoting OBOR through big data analysis.

The forum was attended by around 70 participants from various institutions and universities from Hong Kong and the region. All the panels and talks were well received by the audience. The aim of the co-organizers was that the Forum will facilitate a dialogue between academics and practitioners, and discuss the benefits and risks under the OBOR Initiative, which is a current issue.

RMI co-hosts the 2nd NUS-USPC Workshop on New Challenges in Financial Risk Control

On 11 and 12 April 2017 RMI in collaboration with Paris Diderot University and NUS Centre for Quantitative Finance (CQF) hosted the 2nd NUS-USPC Workshop on New Challenges in Financial Risk Control. This workshop was also supported by NUS Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMS). The aim of this workshop was to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to present and discuss on topics related to financial risk control.

There were a total of 16 papers presented over the two days of the workshop. Day one featured speakers such as Masaaki Kijima of Tokyo Metropolitan University, Bin Li of University of Waterloo, Hanqing Jin of University of Oxford, Cyril Benezet, Jean-Francois Chassagneux, Noufel Frikha, Xiaoli Wei, and Matteo Basei of Paris Diderot University, and Wei Jiang and Cong Qin of NUS. Subsequently, day two featured presentations by Youri Kabanov of University of Franche-Comté, Xiang Yu of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Shan Huang of NUS, and Huyên Pham, Claudio Fontana and Simone Scotti of Paris Diderot University.

The organizing committee included professors from both Paris Diderot University and NUS.
